Kelly & The Avalon…

I recently found this beautiful photoset by Marni Jae featuring The Avalon Hotel and its designer, Kelly Wearstler a.ka. the mother of modern glamour.

Kelly Wearstler is a distinguished interior designer and tastemaker best known for her enchanting take on interiors and the luxury lifestyle.  The award-winning interior designer is not only highly regarded among her peers, but she is also widely recognized in the press. Wearstler was named one of the style leaders in 2010 by Town & Country.  In the Town & Country interview she talks about her love of:  

Wallpaper:  ’so much more depth than paint’
Giraffes:  ’they’re so graceful, and I love the pattern on their fur’
Art: ‘I still go to thrift stores when I’m shopping for art’
Fashion:  ’It’s all about breaking your habits’
Life Philosophy:  ’Take risks.  You can’t get anywhere in life unless you do’  

The pictures above are from The Avalon Hotel in Beverly Hills.  Kelly took the lessons of Modernism - a strict color palette and clean, graphic lines - and applied them to the glamourous, swanky style of old Hollywood.  

She’s simply fabulous!

Rooms and fashion inspired by summer thunderstorms. Like the blogger, Anne Sage, I too have fond childhood memories of East Coast thunderstorms. We’d cuddle under blankets and watch from our front porches. It was the only acceptable interruption to the neighborhood kickball game… aside from Mr. Softee. via The City Sage
